Daniel Raymond Thomas, Sr., 59, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 1st, 2022. Born January 9th, 1963 in Morgantown, Daniel was son of the late John and Patricia Maxwell Thomas. Daniel is survived by his son, Daniel R. Thomas, II and his fianc Kari McCrobie of Masontown, WV; a brother, John L. Thomas of Morgantown; a sister, Roberta and husband David Jones of Atlanta, GA; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Thomas. Mr. Thomas loved cooking and worked much of his life as a chef, with more than 20 years of service at the Mountainlair at West Virginia University and at the former Ramada Inn before its closing. He enjoyed being with his family, watching football, and living life to the fullest. Friends may join the family to honor Daniel's life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover / Morgantown on Tuesday, July 26th, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 PM, when a service of remembrance will be held. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made directly to the funeral home to assist with Mr. Thomas's final arrangements.
