Cathy is a graduate of Morgantown High School and West Virginia University, where she obtained her Masters Degree in Industrial Relations.
Cathy is no stranger to funeral service. Her grandfather, Del Baker, was a very well respected embalmer and was widely regarded as a very talented restorative artist for many years in the Morgantown area for several funeral homes. When our funeral home opened, Cathy always assisted with visitations and services, but felt that her true calling was to help our families full-time here at the funeral home. So she left her job of over 20 years with Hall & Hall Dermatology and started full time with the funeral home in 2017.
In 2018, Cathy began her apprenticeship under the guidance of her husband Jason. After completing her requirements, and graduating Magna Cum Laude from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, she became a fully licensed funeral director, embalmer, crematory operator and pre-need counselor in August of 2020 and, in April of 2022, she completed a 17 hour training course to become the only Certified Life Celebrant in our area. Following in the footsteps of her grandfather, Cathy is a very gifted restorative artist and cosmetologist. In addition to being a co-owner of the funeral home with Jason, Cathy serves at the Licensed Crematory Operator in Charge of SFCC Crematory, owned by Smith Funeral & Cremation Care.
Cathy brings with her a wonderful and fresh approach to serving our families. She constantly looks for ways to make sure that when we are called on to serve, that each life celebration experience is just a unique as the person it is for.
Jason and Cathy have five children collectively, and are very dedicated to their family.
