C Jason Smith

LIC, CCO, Pre-Need Specialist, & Owner

Originally from Farmington, WV and a proud North Marion Husky, Jason and attended West Virginia University, Fairmont State College and ultiately graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1998. He served his Pennsylvania intership and became a fully licensed funeral director and embalmer there in 1999. He came back home to West Virginia to begin serving north central West Virginia in 2002 and has been a dual licensed WV & PA funeral director, embalmer and crematory operatory for more than 20 years.

On July 1, 2015, along with his wife, Jason realized his dream of opening his own funeral home when they purchased the former Davidson-Mancinelli Funeral Home (later known as Rotruck-Lobb Mancinelli Chapel) in Morgantown. At the same time, they opened Etched in Stone Monument Design, a full service cemetery monument / memorial provider which is open to the general public.

The Morgantown, Westover and surrounding communities have supported them from day one, making them known for their willingness to work with each family's individual needs, and financial situations.

Jason describes himself as just an ordinary guy with an extraordinary resposibility to help people in their time of need, however he can. His very relaxed approach to guiding families through the life celebration experience is unlike anything you'll find at other funeral homes. He always says that his pants go on just like everyone else's - one leg at a time. That's why when you meet him for the first time, you probably won't find him in a suit and tie. Why? Because he wants you to relaxed and as comfortable as possible.

Jason is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, West Virginia Funeral Directors Association, the ICCFA, St. Luke's Parish in Cheat Lake, and currently holds a seat on the Board of Directors as Vice President at Senior Monongalians, Inc.

Jason married his absolute best friend and partner Cathy on March 28, 2013. Collectively, they have five children, and are "hooman parents" to Coco E. Claire, an English chocolate lab who also serves as the funeral home's comfort dog, and their newst addition to the family Mila ("Mama Mila") a Yellow English lab who is in training to carry on Coco's tradition of turning frowns into great big smiles.
